Where To Start?!
I've always been one to blog...mainly about random stuff in life that bothers me, and that I can't really explain by talking it out. So, I guess this will be more of a diary than a blog for me. I'm sure there will be moments when Justin will get on and blog, but mainly you'll hear from me!! Aren't you so excited?!?
I guess the only thing to really write about is Espyn. I'm so unbelievably excited about being pregnant. It took so long to even get to this point, and now that it's happening, I'm a bit in shock! It's hard for me to believe that in about 4 months I will be a mommy! He's not even here yet, and we've already made so many changes in our lives, and gotten so many things ready for him.
I will admit that when I first found out that we were having a boy, I was a little disappointed. There are so many boys in the family already, it was time for a girl. But then I got to thinking about all the things Justin can teach him. All the sports that he'll play, and all the fun that Justin will have being with his son! We have so many big plans for him. Of course, we expect nothing less than an all-star football player from Texas Tech University that goes in the first round of the NFL draft! LOL!
So many people have asked us about the name we chose for our son. There are a lot of stories, but here is the funniest one, and where the original idea came from:
When Justin was a junior in HS, his favorite channel was ESPN. (just hear me out) His middle name is Hall, and it's been in the family for generations! The first born son usually gives this name to his first born son, and so on...Well, the joke started as ESPN Hall Mason. He would name his son after his favorite channel, and nickname him Primetime! HA! Then a few years later, after we met, we decided that it needed another letter just to make it seem more of a name and not a joke. That's when we changed the spelling to Espyn.
My parents had an exchange student several years ago from Denmark. She told Justin and I that the name Espyn (different spelling though) was actually a Danish name. It orginated there, and so that's the newest story we've told people. We've always loved the fact that it's an original name...not commonly used in America or really anywhere. Unique names are great! So that is how we came up with his name.
That may sound strange and we may get made fun of a little, but we like it. It's really grown on me, and I can't imagine changing it now to anything else. (Unless of course the doctor made a mistake and "he" is really a "she"!) Let's hope not! I've already registered for too many blue items.
